In case you missed it, the sensational singing duo of Esther and Ezekiel Mutesasira emerged winners of the inaugural East Africa's Got Talent show.
Their rendition of Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey's When You Believe had the audience electrified as they hit all the right notes - most notably, Ezekiel's high notes and extended run at the end secured, wrapped and presented the win for them.
After their momentous victory, the siblings appeared on Citizen TV on Monday, October 7, a day after their historic win, recounting the moment they were announced as the winners of the regional show.
"My heart was pumping and I was scared but when they announced that we were winners, I was super excited," Esther was enthusiastically explained.
Ezekiel added, "Even before they announced the winners, I was already crying, I held my sister's hand and Kansiime kept looking at us and the audience and had me worried about what was going to happen."
The Mutesasiras stated that they were well prepared for the show and had rehearsed for their performance to be the best ever.
"I had hope that we were going to win, but when we reached the stage, my hope was gone," Ezekiel added before they broke out in laughter, showing how the nerves were getting to him.
Esther revealed that their father called after the announcement, in excitement.
"My Dad called and the moment we were announced as the winners, they went out screaming the whole neighbourhood, even the police came asking, 'why are you guys making noise?'” she narrated.
Ugandans and the entire region celebrated the duo's victory, including President Yoweri Museveni who congratulated the two who had been recommended to him by his grandchildren.
The Mutesasiras beat two other Ugandan acts, Comedic dance group, Dance Alliance Network (DNA) and Jehovah Shalom Acappella, in a finale that had six contestants.
Also edged out were Janella Tamara (Kenya), Spellcast (Kenya) and Inteyoberana cultural troupe (Rwanda) which emerged the runners-up.
