Linus Kaikai's Special Tribute to Eliud Kipchoge on Citizen TV [VIDEO]

Olympic champion and marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge is set to defy all the known standards in athletics when he ventures to become the first man to run the 42km event in under two hours.

This is no mean feat as the entire world will shift focus to Vienna, Austria where the global icon seeks to set a new mark on the athletics arena.

Citizen TV Director of Strategy and Innovation Linus Kaikai took time to honour the global icon while delivering his Kicker on October 3.

"I bow in respect and admiration of a Kenyan and global icon, Eliud Kipchoge. Despite being on top of the world, Eliud has decided that the sky is not enough as a limit, as he seeks to set a new record," he stated.

Describing him as a self-disciplined and humble man from Nandi County, Kaikai heaped praise on Kipchoge stating that the world marathon record holder joined the elite list of athletes who have dared to stretch humanity's greatest potential.

"It is like running from Nairobi to Thika town. Whether he accomplishes the feat or not, he has consistently demonstrated what greatness is about. It is more than just running, it is a test of endurance. He earns and deserves our honour as Kenyans," Kaikai declared.

"This kicker kicks hard for Eliud Kipchoge!" he concluded.

Kipchoge will seek to break the 2-hour marathon barrier in the INEOS 1:59 Challenge. The marathon legend will run on October 12 but the time of the race is yet to be announced.

This will the second time he will attempt such a feat, having participated in the Nike-sponsored Breaking 2 event held on the Formula One Autodromo Nazionale Monza Race Track in Italy on May 6, 2017.

Ultimately, the project came up short, with Eliud Kipchoge finishing the race in 2:00:25. Although this time was several minutes faster than the world record, it did not count as a new world record under IAAF standards.
