A Nairobi-based preacher on Tuesday, October 8, went on the run and police launched a manhunt for him for holding a night-long drinking spree with underage girls in his house.
The Miracle Time Christian Church preacher identified only as Meshack is said to have taken the 13 minors, some as young as 12 years, for the party in Rurii area of Githurai 44.
According to Citizen Digital, the girls confessed that they had been given alcohol by the 'Man of God' and other men after being invited to his house for a birthday party.
Some of the girls were visibly drunk at the time they were rescued from Pastor Meshack’s house, where neighbours also claim to have found used condoms.
Angry parents stormed the preacher's house but he managed to flee, they accused him of sexually assaulting some of the minors.
Two other men were arrested in the house and were believed to have also assaulted the girls. They were detained at the Kasarani Police Station.
Earlier in 2019, a pastor in Kitale was jailed 25 years after he impregnated and killed a secondary school student in 2011.
Pastor Charles Nyachwara stabbed and killed the form four student who was pregnant with triplets using a kitchen knife as a plan to cover-up his shame.
While passing his judgment, Justice Hillary Chemitei of the Kitale High Court noted that the evidence shared in court had proven the Nyachwara of the Yuya Pentecostal Assemblies of God was guilty of killing the minor to save his image.
The pastor confessed in court that he killed the minor in order to safeguard his priestly image after his efforts to settle the matter out of court failed.
