Video Captures Daring Nairobi Driver Dodge Police After Accident

A Nairobi motorist escaped police assessment on the morning of Tuesday, October 15, after causing an accident along Uhuru Highway.

In a video shared by Citizen TV, the car had reportedly hit a pedestrian and had been stopped by police officers but defied the order.

A few seconds into the clip, the police officers are seen engaging the motorist but shortly after, the driver of the blue car decides to drive off.

What follows are attempts by the officers to chase after him but the car momentarily swerves off the road before speeding off.

The victim of the hit-and-run, dressed in a white shirt, is left distraught alongside the three officers who were recording the accident.

The incident occurred along Uhuru Highway near the GPO roundabout in Nairobi.

In August, another Nairobi motorist, Bramwel Iro, recounted a near-death experience after a fellow driver threatened to shoot him in broad daylight.

The two motorists had clashed before they arrived at Statehouse Crescent Road, with Iro revealing that he refused to give way to the unidentified driver.

"Earlier Outside the Ethiopian Embassy on Statehouse Crescent I had declined to move ‘the little car' I was driving to make way for his. There was clearly enough room for him to pass but he wanted me to back up even if I was on the correct lane. He had a teenage boy in the passenger seat," he tweeted.

The gun-wielding driver then intentionally hit Iro's car, causing a traffic pile-up on the busy road.

"A few people had started to notice including one of the officers guarding the Embassy. He backs up slightly so that the bumper’s don’t touch but the insults keep coming. He takes a photo of me and the car as part of more intimidation. I just get back into the car and sit there," Iro narrated at the time.
