Watch Likoni Ferry Victims Full of Life Before Tragedy

The Likoni Ferry Tragedy robbed John Wambua's family a robust, full-of-life mother as narrated by her husband who made a passionate appeal to the police to speed up investigations into the tragic incident.

"My wife took people's problems as her own and she would go an extra mile to help where she could.

"She was very hard-working. She used to manage our farm in Msambweni," Wambua stated in an interview with NTV.

A video surfaced online of Mariam Kighenda partying with her friends before she perished at the Likoni ferry channel on Sunday, September 29, alongside her daughter Amanda Mutheu

In the video, Mariam with her female friends were dancing to Tanzanian sensation, Harmonize’s hit song Kainama.

A previous video also showed her partying and dancing to one of Diamond's hit song, alongside her friends.

Kighenda and her daughter will not be laid to rest in Mombasa despite them living in the Coastal region.

"Actually they will be buried in Makueni, as the husband is from our county," Makueni County Governor Kivutha Kibwana informed Kenyans.co.ke, stressing that it was important for Kenyans to know where the family came from.

The DCI launched an investigation into the tragedy.

Nation also reported that Wambua received a cheque of Ksh 682, 500 from an insurance company for his wrecked vehicle.
