Controversial lawyer and one time Raila Odinga's personal advisor (2009-2011) Miguna Miguna on Friday, October 18, escalated his largely one-sided row with the former premier with claims concerning Raila's actions after the death of his firstborn son Fidel Odinga.
Riding on the succession row pitting the Odinga family against Lwam Bekele, the widow to the late Fidel, Miguna narrated on social media that after Fidel passed on in January 2015, a sorrowful Raila came to the compound and demanded to be left alone in the room with Fidel's body.
Miguna then sensationally alleged that Raila opted for a controversial rite to be performed on the body before it was taken to Lee Funeral home for post-mortem.
"He sent for an old Luo traditional medicine man (ajuoga) from Sakwa. The Luo traditional medicine man (ajuoga) found Raila alone in Fidel's bedroom. Raila ordered him to chop off Fidel's right thumb," he wrote.
While Miguna did not reveal the reason behind the alleged rite, he warned that at the time he had been around Raila, he had seen more than he had shared with the people.
"If Raila's people delude themselves that they can fight truth with lies then they have one billion explosions waiting for them. Let me give Raila Odinga a piece of advice: Never, ever, betray your adviser for 30 pieces of silver," he wrote.
His narration, however, did not augur well with Kenyans on social media, with many people coming out to castigate him for talking about sensitive matters that he had no means to back up.
"Miguna needs peace in his heart... He is a classic example of a selfish man... He wants all the limelight while destroying the character of everyone. Please see a counselor and pray for deliverance," a Twitter user posted.
"For publicity and relevance, a mad man MUST walk naked in a market square. You're doing it perfectly well," another fired at him.
Miguna fell out with Raila after he was harassed and deported by the government following Raila's mock swearing-in in February 2018, after which he accused Raila of betraying him.
