Raila's Right Hand Man Recounts His Dangerous Ride From Airport

Orange Democratic Party (ODM), Communications Director, Philip Etale, was forced to think on his feet while stuck at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Sunday, October 27.

Etale's predicament was a result of a major traffic snarl-up along Mombasa road, due to the Stanchart Marathon.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Etale stated that the trip was tough but he had to make it on time to ensure that all the plans for the party's big rally were in order.

Having arrived at around midday, Raila's head of communications had to figure out a way to get to Kibra before 1 P.M, where the former Prime Minister was set to address the residents in the last bid to drum up support for their party's parliamentary candidate, Imran Okoth.

It was at this point that he decided to hail a boda boda which he used to ferry him from the airport to the heart of Kibra.

"I jumped on a motorbike. It was my first time riding on a motorbike on a highway. I made it on time," he stated upon arrival.

He went on to provide a live stream of the colourful event where Raila urged the people of Kibra to ignore advances by the other party's, maintaining that the brother to the late Ken Okoth was the right man to steer the constituency into the future.

The scenes were quite different over at Sarang'ombe, Kibra, at the Amani National Congress (ANC) rally where party leader Musalia Mudavadi's vehicle was pelted with stones.

Chaotic scenes ensued leaving several of the youth associated with ANC nursing injuries.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, ANC Secretary-General Barack Muluka who was present at the rally stated that they retreated to Laini Saba areas to avoid any further bloodshed.

"We were holding our rally at Sarang'ombe when we were stoned by the youth. We don't believe in violence. We restrained our young people, Muluka maintained.

"We were able to leave the area and went to Laini Saba area where we continued with our campaigns," he added.
