Deputy President William Ruto on Tuesday, October 28, made the dream of a young student, Wilson Wakibia, come true after paying for his full scholarship to Egerton University.
Wakibia - who hails from Mwea Tebere emerged as the top student after completing his diploma at Bukura Agricultural College.
Kirinyaga Women representative, Purity Ngirici announced DP Ruto's kind gesture, going on to thank him for heeding to her request.
"I extend my unqualified gratitude to William Ruto for awarding Wilson Wakibia a full-ride scholarship at Egerton University. My office is dedicated to lobby and provide opportunities for all students from humble backgrounds," she shared.
Wakibia joined the legislator at the DP's office where his new enrolment, as well as scholarship, was confirmed.
DP Ruto went on to wish all the KCPE candidates the best in their exams a day later, going on to declare that the nation's future was in the hands of their young minds.
"You have worked hard for eight years to get this far; your effort blended with preparation, diligence, sacrifice, zeal and consistent learning is about to pay off. Give it your best shot for the future of Kenya depends on your creativity and commitment," he stated.
This was in line with his party leader, Uhuru Kenyatta, who also extended his best wishes to all the candidates.
"My prayers and best wishes to you all as you sit for your KCPE and KCSE. As I always tell you, remember exams are not the end but a step towards dreams and aspirations you all have for your future," read an excerpt of the president's statement.
