Uhuru's Rock Star Cousin Who Took Trump Head-On

The Kenyatta family is arguably the most influential and powerful family in Kenya.

What many Kenyans don't know is that Uhuru has an American cousin who took rock music by storm.

Thomas Baptiste Morello was born on May 30, 1964, in Harlem New York, to Ngethe Njoroge, Jomo Kenyatta's cousin, and Mary Morello as the only child of the couple, but has 3 step-siblings.

Morello's mother worked as a teacher of English in Germany, Spain, Japan, and Kenya between 1977 and 1983.

His father participated in the Mau Mau uprising and was Kenya's first ambassador to the United Nations.

Morello is an American musician, singer, songwriter, actor and political activist best known for his association with the band Rage Against The Machine and Audio Slave where he was the guitarist.

Morello was also a touring musician with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band

He is also known for his acoustic solo act, The Night Watchman, and Street Sweeper Social Club. Morello co-founded Axis of Justice, an NGO which airs a monthly program on Pacifica Radio KPFK  based in Los Angeles.

Morello became interested in music and politics while in high school.

He graduated from high school with honours in June 1982 and enrolled at Harvard University as a political science student.

He is known for his unique and creative guitar style, which incorporates feedback noise, unconventional picking, and tapping, as well as heavy use of guitar effects.

The rock star holds leftist political views and doesn't away from controversy as was the case when he demonstrated against US President Donald Trump.

He was quoted in one of the protests stating, "The way I look at it is what Trump has done in a week is galvanize the opposition. That’s what this is; this unprecedented racism, bigotry and proto-fascist agenda that he’s trying to shove down America’s throat has unleashed the resistance that will dethrone him."

Morello developed leftist political leanings early, and has described himself as having been "the only anarchist in a conservative high school", and has since identified as a nonsectarian socialist.
