Babu Owino's Desperate Message to Uhuru

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino sent out a personal plea to President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday, November 4.

The vocal legislator was reacting to remarks by Chief Justice David Maraga that laid bare the major rift between the Judiciary and the Executive.

"I wish to appeal to my seniors, H. E the President and H. E the CJ to exercise wisdom and sobriety for the sake of the people of Kenya. When elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers," Babu stated.

The firebrand MP cautioned leaders against fueling the rift between the two arms of government, adding that it was the ordinary citizens who would suffer in the long run.

"I, therefore, caution all those who are hell-bent on undermining this relationship for their own selfish gains. We will not stand by as you destroy this country," he declared.

He went on staunchly defend the embattled CJ, demanding that he be granted the respect his office merited.

"The Chief Justice is a senior and respected member of our society and we will protect both the institution and the individual by hook or by crook! CJ must be respected." Babu asserted.

Earlier on, Maraga caused quite a stir when he emotionally recounted how he was frustrated at President Uhuru Kenyatta's Mashujaa Day celebration in Mombasa on October 20, 2019.

The tough-talking CJ had called for a press conference at the Supreme Court in Nairobi, where he went on to decry how the Judiciary was being affected by treasury budget cuts.

He also lamented how his office was being looked down upon and its mandate interfered with by other arms of government.
