Kibra Poll: Man Caught Red Handed Bribing Voters, Scuffle Ensues [VIDEO]

There was drama at Mashimoni polling station in Kibra Constituency on Thursday, November 7, after two people were apparently caught red-handed bribing voters during the ongoing Kibra mini-poll.

In an altercation broadcasted live on Citizen TV, one of the suspects later identified as David Jemmo Korir an employee of Lang'ata CDF office was roughed up by irate voters at Mashimoni Polling Station in Kibra.

Residents who nabbed the man allegedly handing Ksh200 notes to voters threatened to lynch him.

Sources at the scene who spoke to Kenyans.co.ke that another woman was also caught dishing out Ksh200 notes to voters, moments after Korir was left at the mercy of enraged residents.

She managed to escape after a voter snatched the notes that she was hiding in her bosom but was later arrested by police as well. 

As the scuffle ensued, police rushed to the scene, saving the man who was already receiving a beating from the residents and later caught up with the second suspect.

Several political leaders arrived at the scene to contain the situation among them ODM part Chairman John Mbadi and Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino.

According to our source, Babu arrived at the scene after "claims of the ongoing illegal campaigns" reached him.

Mbadi who spoke on live TV further disclosed that the situation had been contained and the calm restored.

"I have spoken to one of our agents in this polling station, among them Wajir woman representative Fatuma Gedi and she has assured me everything is now okay and the calm has been restored. The security officers are also on standby," Mbadi assured.
