Ethic Dealt Huge Blow Over New Controversial Song

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) CEO, Ezekiel Mutua on Sunday, November 10, finally had the last laugh after Google finally pulled down Ethic's controversial track - Tarimbo.

Mutua had sought help from both Google's and the Directorate of Criminal Investigation's to bring the artists to book over the raunchy song that was deemed to be promoting violence against women

"Our artistes will learn to respect the regulator and to create content with substance. Content does not have to be dirty to sell," a jubilant Mutua posted on his facebook page after the song was pulled offline.

"Globally, content that makes money is the one rated "suitable for family viewing," he added.

The vocal KFCB boss went on to advise other artists to focus on meaningful content as opposed to the current trend of songs filled with suggestive and outright immoral lyrics.

"All this other crap with obscene and lewd lyrics is only for a short term hype but does not translate to money. If you want to survive in film and creative industry just stick to the law and create meaningful content," he stated.

This comes just days after he tore into the boy group as well as Sailor's gang, over what he termed as dementia.

"My interpretation of Wamlambez and Tarimbo is that these are not artists. They are demented circus thugs hiding behind the art to promote indecency. Any self-respecting DJ should not play these songs. No club should allow music that advocates for violence against women,"  he shared across his social media pages.

Back in October 2019, the vocal KFCB boss picked a fight with Citizen TV over its Friday night show 10 Over 10 and its host Willis Raburu, over what he termed as filthy and immoral content.

Raila Odinga Junior also weighed in on the conversation of Ethic's new controversial hit song Tarimbo, going on to vow never to dance or play it due it's underlying criminal connotations.
