Revealed: Why Uhuru Snubbed Crucial Meeting Without Notice

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday, November 10, failed to show up for a scheduled fundraiser at ACK St. Peter Cathedral in Kenol area, Murang'a county.

Speculations were rife over the last-minute cancellation as residents expressed their disappointment with the president.

However, speaking at the event, Transport CS James Macharia explained the president's absence revealing that the Head of State had some other engagements in Nairobi.

"Apologies for the president couldn't be here today. He is hosting other leaders from other countries," he told the congregation.

Interior CS Fred Matiang'i and Joe Mucheru (ICT) represented the president at the fundraiser in Murang'a.

He further assured that the president was keen on visiting the area - a promise he would fulfil in the future.

Kenyans.co.ke has established that Nairobi is set to host the International Conference on Population (ICPD25) from 12-14 November 2019 where high-level leaders from all over the world are expected to arrive in the country.

It wasn't clear which leaders Uhuru was hosting in Nairobi.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the groundbreaking International Conference on Population and Development, which took place in Cairo in 1994.

Kenya has partnered with the government of Denmark and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to host the three-day global population summit.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, on Sunday, November 10, addressed guests during the launch of the conference stating that the new resident population will shape development planning for the county.

"This reality poses endless social and economic opportunities for all Kenyans and our friends from all over the world," Sonko stated.

The conference is set to open on Monday, November 10 at KICC and is open for all residents.
