Police Officers Nabbed Carjacking an Uber

Two police officers were caught up in a dramatic attempted robbery in Nairobi on Saturday night, November 30.

The rogue police constables - identified as Ali Shukri Galgalo of Quarry Police Post and Abdikadir Daiwo, were arrested by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) as they tried to make away with a taxi registered under the uber app.

According to reports released by the DCI, the two suspects requested a cab via the popular ride-hailing app and forced the driver to seat at the back once he arrived.

However, their well laid out plan fell to shambles after they clumsily crashed the vehicle at the Kilimanjaro roundabout in Eastleigh, Nairobi.

They reportedly attempted to flee on foot but it proved to be too late as officers alerted to the plight of taxi operator pounced on them.

Reports further indicated that the rogue officers were from the Muthaiga Police Station, further adding that they were in custody, with their arraignment set for Monday, December 2.

The four suspects identified as Wilson Cheruiyot, Daniel Korir, Alex Kandie and Jean Baptist Esome were arrested and Ksh3.5 million was recovered.
