Murkomen Reveals Special Privilege He's Avoided Using

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen on Monday, December 2, revealed that since taking up the position of the Senate Majority leader, he's avoided using a privilege associated with his senior ranking position.

Appearing at Radio Citizen later than the scheduled time, the senator disclosed that he did not use the siren to avoid traffic despite being entitled to clearance on the roads.

He was scheduled to arrive at the studio for a 7 a.m. interview but ended up arriving almost 40 minutes late.

"Sorry for being late, I was caught up in traffic and the morning rain," he began.

The hosts, Jerida Andayi and Melody Sinzore questioned whether he was entitled to special clearance on roads and highways during traffic snarl-ups.

"It is my fault, I should have gotten out of the house earlier. I am like any other Kenyan driver in traffic. I don't use the siren and have never used it since I took up office," he conveyed.

Speaking during the interview, Murkomen addressed the commotion his remarks caused at the launch of the BBI report on Wednesday, November 27.

"I am not sorry for airing out my grievances at the launch. If I get the chance I would do the same thing. After the BBI launch, many people have sent me messages of support," he added.
