Irate Kenyans Torch Matatu After Leaving Death Trail in Grisly Accident

A grisly road accident along the Kapsowar - Eldoret highway on Saturday night December 14, has left two dead.

Reports first published by Citizen Digital claimed that the tragic accident involving a matatu, a truck and a boda boda.

The driver of the matatu allegedly lost control of the vehicle while attempting to overtake the lorry and skidded off the road and into the boda boda riders on the other side.

According to initial reports, the two riders died on the spot, with irate residents then rushing to the scene and torching the matatu.

Bodies of the two victims were ferried to the Iten Referral Hospital morgue.

In a similar incident on the same day, one person died following yet another tragic accident at Soweto area, along the Mumias-Bungoma highway after two vehicles collided head-on.

Reports first published by the Standard claimed that the crash happened when a truck heading to Mumias swerved on the road and rammed straight into an oncoming personal saloon car.

An eyewitness, Wilfred Waswa, claimed that the rainwater that had stagnated on the side of the road forced the driver in front of the lorry to slam on his brakes abruptly. In a bid to avoid slamming into the vehicle, the driver of the truck swerved to the other lane where he ended up crashing onto the oncoming car.

Reports revealed that the driver of the saloon car died on the spot, with two passengers found within the wreckage of the vehicle rushed to St Mary’s Mission Hospital, Mumias for treatment.
