Several people are feared dead following a grisly accident along the Sotik-Keroka Road on the morning of Wednesday, November 27.
A report published by Nation stated that 2 people were confirmed dead, with several others injured.
Eyewitnesses further claimed that the accident, which involved a 14-seater matatu and a lorry, happened at a roadblock in Nyaronde.
The lorry allegedly rammed head-on into the matatu while trying to avoid the cess collection point.
The driver of the matatu died at the scene while the other victim was declared dead on arrival at St Clare's Kaplong Mission Hospital in Bomet County.
Nyamira County Commissioner Amos Mariba, stated that they were yet to confirm the total number of casualties.
The tragic incident comes barely a week since the National Transport & Safety Authority released a survey indicating that cases of accidents had increased in 2019.
According to the report, the country had lost 3,112 people to road accidents, compared to 2,727 who died in 2018 during a similar period.
