Tears of joy, laughter and countless emotions – that’s what weddings are made of. For the family and friends gathered, a wedding is not just about a couple getting married, it's a celebration and also time to let loose.
Citizen TV anchor Yvonne Okwara's wedding to veterinarian Andrew Matole Konde in a low-key ceremony held at Nairobi's Crowne Plaza hotel in 2014 was more than memorable.
At the time, she worked at KTN and so all her colleagues, as well as journalists from other media houses, joined in the celebration.
In a throwback post (TBT), she shared on her Instagram, the anchor who is celebrating five years of marriage reminisced about that time in her life with a video of her special day.
At the wedding reception, Okwara is seen having a great time dancing with her colleagues, sports anchor Lynn Wachira, Joe Ageyo who was at the time KTN's managing editor and senior reporter Sophia Wanuna. She pulls them into the dance circle where they bust a move in glee.
Other colleagues who were present in the occasion were, Mary Kilobi, Mashirima Kapombe, Betty Kyallo, Massawe Jappani, Mercy Kandie, Sharon Momanyi, Asha Mwilu and Ian Wafula.
After her nuptials, Okwara has put her marriage out of the limelight only speaking on it on rare occasions.
In an interview earlier in 2019, she has maintained that she is happy with the marriage life.
“People talked. People said things. That’s what comes with having a job in the limelight, but again, no one lives my life but for me. My husband is my best friend, we get along incredibly well, and none of these other issues has ever mattered,” Yvonne affirmed.
At the same time, Kenyans on social media wondered why the anchor 'hid' her husband on her social media pages - claims Okwara laughed off.
“Hahaha, I don’t hide him. He is a grown man! He can put up his pictures when he wants to. I don’t control his social media! This is my page, not his!” Yvonne responded to a fan on Instagram.
