Heavy Traffic in Nairobi as 4 Universities Hold Graduations

Heavy traffic is expected on various roads in Nairobi on Friday, December 20, as institutions of higher learning hold their graduation ceremonies.

The tertiary institutions include; Daystar University, Technical University of Kenya (TUK), Kenyatta University and the University of Nairobi (UoN).

TUK and UoN are located at the heart of the city, hence traffic towards the CBD may be heavier than usual.

TUK is along Haile Selassie Avenue while UoN is along University Way.

A section of Thika Superhighway.

On the other hand, Daystar Univerity is located along Mbagathi Road and Kenyatta University along Thika Superhighway.

The road leading to the said institutions will be affected as well as Uhuru Highway.

On the Thika Superhighway, Mangu Road Junction is under construction and motorists headed to Nairobi are likely to be affected.

"Headed to Nairobi from Thika? Road blocked at Njomoko by the footbridge contractor. Heavy snarl-up. Kindly use alternatives given," Kenya Traffic cautioned on Twitter.

Meanwhile, an accident involving multiple vehicles occurred at the Utawala Bypass, near Shooters close to Kayole junction.

It is, hence, advisable for motorists to use alternative roads as well as plan their activities accordingly.
