On Friday, December 3, social media was awash with reports about an alleged 'Somali guy' linked to K24 TV's Betty Kyallo, that NTV news anchor Ken Mijungu had exposed in a strong defence of his colleague and friend Dennis Okari.
Kyallo, on Monday, December 30, expressed her gratitude to God for saving her daughter Ivanna, from a rare auto-immune disease known as acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM).
In the post, the news anchor did not mention that Ivanna's father, NTV news anchor Dennis Okari, had also played a role in helping their daughter, something that did not go well with Mijungu.
In his post, Mijungu revealed the existence of another male character of Somali origin who played a part in the baby's welfare.
"To deliberately paint him as irresponsible is immoral my friend. You don’t have to correct the impression you have created because the Somali guy is by your side but at-least be honest. We were friends before and one day we shall be friends again," part of Mijungu's post read.
It is his mention of the 'Somali guy' in the post that left social media users wondering who he was and on Friday morning, the hashtag #SomaliGuy trended as number one on Twitter.
The speculations are said to have stemmed from a Twitter user only identified as Nasir who introduced Alinur as the next MP in Mandera.
"Ladies And Gents, Introducing our next mp for Mandera Hon Alinur aka the Somali guy. Our brother leaving no stone unturned ask Betty Kyallo," his tweet read.
Other netizens followed, weighing in the issue.
"The KOT Sting Squad Headquarters unit that comprises of highly skilled officers tasked with conducting surveillance both in uniform and in civilian clothes has just established that Alinur Mohamed is #TheSomaliGuy whose identity had been hidden," Mboya commented.
"Good morning Kenyans! Imagine the #TheSomaliGuy has been identified. It is Alinur Mohamed!" Kalabae remarked.
"We've found the 'Somali guy' wa Ken Mijungu and Mercy Kyallo," Amedo Shair added.
"Kindly ignore rumours doing rounds that my friend Alinur is the purported Betty Kyallo's guy. Preserve this energy for his campaigns in 2022 for Mandera Town Constituency," Linus Ogechi stated.
As the drama between three media personalities continues to unfold, Kenyans will be keen to see whether the real identity of the mysterious man will be revealed.
