DCI Seizes Miguna Miguna's Property Days Before Return

Update 8:20 pm: Miguna Miguna has taken to social media to thank Kenyans for their support in demanding for the release of his car by DCI officers.

"George Kinoti and members of his KweKwe and flying Squads have released my vehicle, thanks to Dr. John

Khaminwa, Jeremiah Otomwa, Ferdinand, patriotic Kenyans and netizens for forcing them to conduct themselves within the law," Miguna stated in appreciation.

The controversial lawyer had earlier on January 4, 2020, called upon the Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti to release his vehicle that was allegedly seized by officers from the DCI.

Miguna, in a complaint online, alleged that five heavily armed officers from the Sting Squad illegally seized the vehicle that was in possession of one Ferdinand Ogumah at around 12.30 pm on January 4 along Zanzibar Road, South B in Nairobi.

"Five heavily-armed Flying Squad officers now calling themselves "Special Service Unit" agents illegally seized my vehicle from Ferdinand Ogumah in Nairobi and detained it. Most likely to install surveillance devices," he claimed.

In a message directly addressed to DCI Kinoti, Miguna noted that the officers were dressed in casual clothes and operated a vehicle that did not bear the insigni of the National Police Service.

The controversial lawyer explained that the officer in charge of the team that allegedly seized the vehicle identified himself as Khadija Sudi who even gave his phone number.

Ferdinand Ogumah via phone revealed to Kenyans.co.ke that he had been approached by officers who confiscated the car.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the officer denied leading a team in detaining Miguna's car.

Sudi added that it was not within his jurisdiction to carry out such an operation and was not aware of the incident.

"No, it was not me. I am a junior officer, I cannot do that," Sudi stated.

The incident comes just days before Miguna's return to the country following his dramatic deportation to Canada in 2018.

The barrister announced that he would arrive on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at 9:25 pm via Lufthansa Flight LH 590.
