Starehe Member of Parliament Charles 'Jaguar' Njagua on Tuesday, January 21 donated several mattresses to inmates at Industrial Area Prison, announcing that his Embakasi East counterpart Babu Owino would personally benefit from the act of charity.
Owino is being held at the prison awaiting a ruling on his bail application set for Monday, January 27. He was arrested on Friday, January 17 over the shooting of Felix Orinda alias DJ Evolve at B-Club in Nairobi's Kilimani area.
"Today I will donate over 200 mattresses to Industrial Area Prison, Starehe. I believe that remandees should be as comfortable as possible as they await the outcome of their cases.
"My colleague, Hon. Babu Owino will benefit from one of the heavy-duty mattresses," Jaguar captioned the images on social media.
He shared photos of the mattresses being loaded onto a truck ready for delivery to Industrial Area.
Babu and Jaguar have clashed in the past and famously fought outside Parliament buildings on October 10, 2017.
At the time, which was before the March 9, 2018 handshake between opposition leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta, Jaguar accused Owino of disrespecting the president.
"We will teach you a lesson Babu, you must respect the president," Jaguar was heard fuming.
"Which president? The only president I know is Raila Odinga," Babu responded before they started exchanging blows.
The duo, however, buried the hatchet soon after the March 9 handshake, following in their party leaders' footsteps.
“Today I met Hon. Jaguar at Parliament and reconciled our differences. Promised to work together to serve the interest of Kenyans,” Babu posted on social media at the time.
"Kenya is finally one..." Jaguar wrote in response.
