3 Children Die in Tragic Incident

Three children died after a fire razed their house on Friday, January 24 in Kinangop Constituency, Nyandarua County.

The children, Cecilia Muthoni (one), Abigail Wangui (four), and their cousin, Peris Gathoni, had locked themselves inside a timber house when the fire broke out.

County Police Commander Gideon Ngumi told Daily Nation that the three were rescued by neighbours but succumbed to injuries on their way to the hospital.

Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia (pictured) promised to help the families with burial arrangements.

“The children had locked themselves inside the timber house. Neighbours battled the fire and rescued the minors but they died at Naivasha Sub-county Hospital. The fire erupted again and consumed the entire house," Ngumi told the publication.

The cause of the fire had, however, not been established at the time of publishing.

Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia expressed his shock at the incident as well as promised to help the two families with burial arrangements.

Elsewhere, two people died on Saturday morning, January 25, after a Nairobi-bound bus was involved in a road accident at Ngokomi area, near Sultan Hamud Town on the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway.

Makueni County Police Commander Joseph ole Naipeiyan stated that the driver lost control and veered off the road

"The vehicle veered off the road before falling on one side, killing a 25-year-old man and a one-year-old baby," Naipeiyan stated in a statement seen by Kenyans.co.ke.

He added that four others had incurred serious injuries while 14 more escaped with minor bruises and were being attended to at Kilome Hospital.

The two bodies were taken to Kilome mortuary.
