Mombasa Highway Section Closed Over Freak Accident

A freak accident involving 4 vehicles occurred at Kiongwani area on Saturday night, January 25, forcing police to close the road.

Motorists were diverted and asked to use the Wote-Machakos road for their own safety after the vehicles burst into flames.

Traffic was paralysed along the busy highway following the late-night accident that left one dead and 5 others injured and rushed to Machakos Level 5 Hospital.

Reports by Hot 96 FM stated that the accident occurred after two trucks rammed into each other, with the two other vehicles catching fire as well due to their proximity to the lorries.

The latest incident came on the same day when an LPG truck crashed into the barrier on Outer Ring Road at Pipeline.

 

Nairobi Traffic boss Joshua  Omukata ordered motorists to avoid the area of the road over a possible explosion.
