Kabogo Lists 3 Businesses That Made Him Billions

Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo finally gave a sneak peek into how he amassed his wealth in the '90s.

Speaking during a high-stakes interview with Punchline show's host Anne Kiguta, the flashy former county boss admitted that he was worth billions, without mentioning the exact figure, after a series of targeted questions towards how he got the wealth and his own character.

“What is your net worth,” posed Kiguta. “My net worth is good...no figures,” Kabogo answered before the host challenged him to disclose his figure.

“Why do you want me to advertise here what I own? I’m a wealthy man, that I will agree,” the politician replied appearing to take offense before later disclosing he was worth billions in Kenya currency.

As the conversation progressed, Kabogo became more candid about his wealth and how he acquired it.

He disclosed that he made most of his money in the 1990s thanks to a profitable car import business he was carrying out at the time.

“In the 1990s, I used to import cars. Then you needed a license to import cars.

"I remember my last shipment of cars from Japan to here, was a whole vessel with 175 cars. So if you are making Sh100,000 per car, how much is that? Big-time money," he shared.

He also revealed that he was a supplier for supermarkets and was among the founders of the now famous Eastleigh Market.

“I am the one who started the Eastleigh Market…Here I am, clean as snow,” he added while responding to an earlier question about involvement in drug trafficking.

Kenyans.co.ke previously profiled the wealth of the flamboyant politician exposing a helicopter that Kabogo later disclosed he acquired for a generous Ksh200 million.

He denied that he engaged in the drug business and challenged those who thought otherwise to face him directly.
