Events Leading to Tuju's Grisly Road Accident

UPDATE:

Jubilee Secretary-General Raphael Tuju has been admitted at the Karen ICU.

Media reports indicate that Tuju was admitted there on Wednesday evening after being airlifted from Kijabe Mission Hospital where he was undergoing surgery after he was involved in an accident.

Details emerged as to what transpired leading to Jubilee Secretary-General Raphael Tuju getting involved in a  grisly early morning accident at Magina on Nakuru-Nairobi highway.

According to reports by K24 TV, Tuju was involved in a head-on collision with the matatu which switched lanes to avoid ramming into a car ahead of it.

The vehicle ahead of the matatu, a Toyota Allion, had slowed down to allow a car that was ahead of it to branch to a feeder road on the right leading to the matatu veering into the path of oncoming traffic after making contact with the Allion.

It was at this moment that CS Tuju's SUV was approaching, resulting in a serious head-on collision that caused serious injuries on both sides.

Tuju was immediately airlifted to Kijabe where he underwent surgery after complaints of injuries to his chest.

At nine in the morning, his family was airlifted to Kijabe hospital, where they left a few hours later as Tuju was airlifted to Nairobi for further treatment.

Some of the victims who suffered grave injuries in the accident have been identified as 46-year-old Tuju’s bodyguard, Charles Oyaro, who sustained hand fractures and his driver, Austin Oindo, 33, who sustained leg fractures.

The matatu driver Bernard Kariuki was reportedly found unconscious and is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
