Embattled lawyer Miguna Miguna has hinted that President Uhuru Kenyatta might be planning to have his deputy, William Ruto, kicked out of office.
In a speculative post he shared with his followers on Saturday, February 15, the outspoken critic of the state claimed that the troubles that the DP is being linked to are a plan to have him arrested.
He later noted that Uhuru would attempt to impeach the DP before sending him back to the International Criminal Court (ICC) where the two, in 2013, had been charged with crimes against humanity relating to the 2007/2008 post-election violence.
"First, arrest and charge William Ruto. Second, attempt to impeach Ruto. Third, refer Ruto's case to the ICC," shared the embattled lawyer.
Over the recent past, some of the high profile politicians allied to the DP have had run-ins with Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officials over alleged corrupt deals.
The DP has had to, time and time again, to distance himself from the investigations urging the agency to go after the suspects without his name cropping up.
Lately, Former Sports CS Rashid Echesa, was arrested on Thursday, February 13, following an alleged Ksh39 billion military equipment scandal in which he is suspected on using the power of the office of the DP to pull off.
The officers combed through Ruto's office on Friday, February 14, in search of the CCTV footage to ascertain what transpired in the scandal.
Since the story broke, Ruto has since rubbished his involvement in the case as a plot by his political opponents. He then asked the DCI to go after the real fraudsters.
"The desperation of my political competitors on their choreographed smear campaign against William Samoei Ruto is evident even for fools (whom we have a shortage for) to see," Ruto claimed.
In May 2019, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino also linked the DP to a Ksh400 million fake gold scam that was targeted at defrauding a United Arab Emirates ruler.
Babu claimed that he knew the identity of one of the people DP Ruto sold fake gold to and that he was planning to release the dossier very soon.
“I know of one client whom the Deputy President sold fake gold to. Dossier coming out soon. Hatupendi ujinga (We don’t like stupidity)” Babu claimed.
The claims, however, remain unsubstantiated even though the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions explained that Uhuru, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Interior CS Fred Matiang'i's names had been dragged into the scandal but the three never had anything to with it.
