The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has pounced on a wanted suspect who was about to board a plane and fly out of the country.
In a statement released on social media on Wednesday, February 26, the DCI announced that officers had arrested Maundu Emmanuel Wambua who was wanted in connection with obtaining money by false pretenses.
Maundu was just about to fly to Dubai in a bid to escape justice.
"The 4 a.m. arrest of the 36-year-old was effected by a joint team of immigration officers and the DCI Nairobi Central detectives and has since been placed in custody pending arraignment," the statement read.
Earlier in the day, the DCI pounced on another wanted suspect who was accused of terrorizing Nairobi residents.
In a statement on social media, they announced that they had arrested the leader of the gang after obtaining intelligence on their hideouts.
"Following an Intelligence-led operation, a team of DCI detectives and Kenya Police Service officers based at Kamukunji have managed to arrest the leader of a notorious gang that has been operating within Nairobi Central Businesses District," they announced.
The man, identified as Godfrey Sangare Ambani, was reportedly positively identified by his victims after his arrest outside the Milimani Law Courts.
The DCI announced that he will be arraigned on Wednesday, February 26.
Sangare had been arrested by the DCI in 2018 after he was caught on CCTV robbing a customer who had just withdrawn money from an ATM.
He was arraigned in court after which he was released on bail.
