Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya found the going getting tough when MCAs stomped out of the assembly during his address.
In a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the area MCAs stormed out of the meeting minutes into Governor Oparanya's speech which was held on February 25, 2020, in Kakamega.
Oparanya was speaking during the opening of the 4th session of the Kakamega County Assembly where he revisited the milestones that the county had achieved under his leadership.
The clip shows law makers trooping out of the assembly in disapproval as a commotion ensues.
The MCAs later addressed the press and explained that they walked out because the governor was not telling them anything new.
"We left when the governor was speaking because he is all about speeches. Ever since he was reelected, all he has been doing has been giving speeches but no action at all.
"He has also taken to micromanage the county all the way from the Executive to the Legislature. We are tired of all these speeches designed to praise himself," an MCA stated.
He further lamented that the Oparanya had lost himself in running the Building Bridges Initiative to the detriment of the area residents.
These sentiments were echoed by another who lamented that despite the MCAs approving budgets running into millions, the projects which were to be funded have never been actualised.
He also lamented that money coming from donors was being misappropriated instead of being used for intended projects.
A third MCA stated that the house had unanimously rejected the government's speech due to his constant repetition and recycling of issues since his term began.
The MCAs warned that matters in the county would not be the same going forward.
