Passenger Films Plane Crashlanding, Praises Heroic Pilot

A Fly 540 plane registered under number 5Y-CGH on Friday, February 28, made a crash landing at Kapese Airstrip.

According to a press release by the airline, the plane is said to have developed engine failure prompting the pilot to make an emergency landing.

"At 9.54 am, Fly 540's DASH8 300 aircraft had a suspected foreign object strike which led to an engine failure," read part of the statement.

At the time of publishing, no casualties had been reported. All the 49 passengers and 5 crew members aboard the flight disembarked safely.

The plane, which was from Lodwar was headed to Nairobi when the incident occurred.

Shortly after the landing, citizens were seen disembarking from the plane as ambulances and security officers arrived at the scene.

The airline notified it's customers that the incident will lead to delayed services in the next few days.

The crash comes a month after a light aircraft belonging to Yellow Wings Air Services Limited crash-landed at Mashuru Sub-county in Kajiado County.

The plane, which had four occupants, departed Wilson Airport at 7:20.

It was on its way to Amboseli National Park when the incident occurred.

The pilot Peter Almendinger and three passengers, Russel, Paris and Susan, sustained minor bump and bruises.
