Embakasi East MP Babu Owino on Wednesday, March 4, responded to the shooting incident that took place in B-Club, Nairobi.
Speaking to Capital FM, the lawmaker stated that he had chosen to forgive himself for the alleged shooting of Felix Orinda alias DJ Evolve on Friday, January 17.
"It is a matter that is between me and God and I chose to forgive myself, we cannot change the past but we can change the future, let us focus on what is coming in the foreseeable future.
"Let us not dwell so much in our past cause we can't change it, no matter how we would want to," Babu stated.
Further, the legislator maintained that he would foot the hospital bills incurred by the DJ.
Babu, however, declined to comment further on the case, stating that it was a matter that was before the courts.
"It is sub-judice and it should not be discussed as much as I would love to talk about it," he stated.
Babu's sentiments came days after High Court Judge Luka Kimaru ruled that Babu should not be forced to pay DJ Evolve's hospital bill, noting that it should be considered a moral obligation.
The judge stated that the order to pay DJ Evolve's hospital bill could only be issued by a civil court and not a criminal court.
"The accused person should continue paying the hospital bill as a moral duty to him, not as a court order. If he fails to pay is up to him and his God," Justice Kimaru stated.
Babu was released on January 20 with a directive from Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi to pay a Ksh10 million bail, in four installments of Ksh2.5 million each.
He, however, applied to have the cash bail reduced and instead be given an alternative bond.
In an application he had filed to the court, Babu stated that he was struggling to meet the remainder of the installments.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke on Tuesday, March 3, the legislator revealed that his cash bail had been halved from Ksh10 million to Ksh5 million.
