ODM leader Raila Odinga has seemingly escalated the fight between him and Deputy President William Ruto.

Replying to a tweet by Kenyans.co.ke on Saturday, March 7, Odinga appeared to be pointing fingers at DP Ruto who was complaining about unseen forces hell-bent on eliminating him from office.

"We are entering a dangerous but decisive phase of this tragedy. The mercenaries have dug in and are daring for a fight. I believe we should determine the time, terms and conditions of engagement," Odinga wrote.

He was responding to a dare by political analyst and law scholar Makau Mutua who insisted that DP Ruto should do the honourable thing and resign given the state of disrepair in his relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"It is clear William Ruto is at war with Uhuru Kenyatta. Otherwise, how can you accuse your boss of destroying you? It is time to resign. That's what Oginga Odinga did under Mzee Kenyatta," he had stated.

He also reiterated his argument with the insistence that DP Ruto had entered the door of no return.

DP Ruto has of late been crying foul over an alleged scheme well orchestrated to get him out of his office and even to take his life.

Speaking at the burial ceremony of the slain officer Kipyegon Kenei in Nakuru on Saturday, March 8, the DP hinted at what he called an elaborate scheme to eliminate him.

"They have killed Kenei because he is the one who would have told the truth about the person who brought the foreigners and fake generals to my office.

"Those executing this scheme to stop me are using all means. I want to tell them that they may have the system's support and everything, but we have God and the life of this innocent Kenyan will not go in vain," he vowed.

The DP also asked his alleged detractors to take the fight to him and leave everyone else around him out of it.

Odinga's sentiments attracted the wrath of among many the former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga who dismissed the words as divisive and dangerous.

"I have always insisted that its the ethnicists and their barons who decide when Kenya should be in war or peace. Kenyans should deny the barons both options going forward," the former CJ stated.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen also weighed in and asked for an interpretation of Raila's message from lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi who responded soon after.

"Very interesting...the take away words.."dangerous but decisive phase", "this tragedy", "mercenaries..daring...fight", "time, terms, conditions of engagement"...BABA is a General...that is why he uses military jargon that are Napoleonic and Leninist...and STALINIST...," he stated.
