The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has revealed the last movements of Nairobi businessman Dafton Mwitiki, before he was reported missing on Wednesday, March 11.
The detectives privy to the case, who spoke to Citizen TV, stated that he might have been abducted as he left his Galana Plaza office that day.
Additionally, detectives stated that GPS phone records placed Mwitiki at Galana Road at 10:40 p.m. before he disappeared thereafter.
Mwitiki is said to have communicated with the wife on the same day at 10:30 p.m. indicating that he was on his way home.
The police added that several people have recorded statements including a security guard, a bodaboda rider who saw the businessman's vehicle leaving and his passenger.
Sleuths are now looking into CCTV footage to track his vehicle on the day of his disappearance.
Mwitiki is said to have never told his family members that his life was in danger.
His family members have appealed to anyone who might know of his whereabouts to surrender information to the police.
"Whoever knows any information about Dafton, kindly volunteer this information to the police," one of the family members stated.
Mwitiki's car, a black Land Rover Discovery, was found dumped in Juja, Kiambu County along the Kimbo-Kiganjo road on Friday, March 13.
An appeal for information on Mwitiki's whereabouts was launched on social media by his associates.
Mwitiki is a celebrated marksman - a person who is skilled in precision shooting using projectile weapons to shoot at high-value targets at longer-than-usual ranges - who represented Kenya in the 2019 International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) Southern Nationals shooting competition in South Africa.
He became known to many Kenyans during the Dusit D2 terror attack in January 2019 after he was pictured at the scene alongside city politician Steve Mbogo.
Mwitiki, who manages a tours and travels company based in Nairobi, is also a prominent and active member of the National Gun Owners Association (NGOA).
