The owner and headteacher of Beracha Academy were on Wednesday, March 18, arrested for defying President Uhuru Kenyatta's directive.

Mathira East Deputy County Commissioner Patrick Messo castigated the action and stated that the two would face dire consequences for ignoring the president's directive.
"As the security team, we have decided that the director and the headteacher will be dealt with for going against the set directive," he stated.
Further, he warned other school heads against breaching the rules.
"The long arm of the law will catch up with them, and soon enough they will also be arrested," he concluded.
The president directed that primary and secondary day and boarding school pupils, be back at their respective homes by Wednesday, March 18, 2020.
He also directed university and tertiary institutions to halt all learning by Friday, March 20, 2020.
The directive by the head of state proceeds earlier measures enacted by the government to curb the spread and exposure to the virus.
