Daring thugs broke into a hotel of a former member of the Senate and stole alcohol and electronics after partying for hours.

Speaking to The Standard on Tuesday, March 31, former Nominated Senator Zippora Kitony disclosed that her house help alerted her that the robbers had broken into Sirwo Resort in Sibanga, an establishment she owns.

They reportedly accessed the hotel after cutting the barbed wire fence and proceeded to party for hours before leaving.

She stated that the thugs made away with her expensive liquor and electronics valued at Ksh500,000.

The electronics included two television sets, music systems and other highly-priced possessions.

"I was informed by my house help that the hotel had been broken into and several items including expensive electronic equipment and wines were missing," she stated.

She also noted that the CCTV had been tampered with by the thugs suspecting that collusion was at play.

"We suspect that the thieves were many and had the knowledge of the building because they disabled the CCTV installed at the hotel before executing their mission," she added.

She reported the matter to police and officers attached to Kachibora Police Station visited the hotel and launched investigations into the matter.

"This is a big blow for me. I’m urging security agents in the area to monitor the movements of idle youths in the county and also intensify security patrols especially around business premises,’’ she stated.

A spate of similar robberies had been carried out in the area with targets being television sets and electronic equipment.

Confirming the incident, County Commander Ali Ayub disclosed that investigations into the matter had been launched.

"It is true there was a robbery at the hotel. We suspect it was an inside job because the way the robbery was executed it was like someone knew the building well even where the CCTV was installed,’’ he stated.
