The acting Director-General in the Ministry of Health Patrick Amoth on Tuesday, April 4, announced that one of the patients that had tested positive for Covid-19 was in critical condition.
In a press briefing at Afya House, Amoth disclosed that the patient was responding well to treatment and was under ventilator support.
"As at now we have one person in critical care but under ventilation and this person, is doing well.
"In fact, we have been in contact with the doctors who are taking care of him and we are looking on a possibility of one or two days where he will be out of the ventilator," Amoth stated.
Amoth stated that the majority of Kenya's reported Covid-19 cases were still very mild.
In terms of age distribution, Amoth stated that the youngest was two years old while the eldest was 74 years.
"We have a male to female ratio of about 56:44, hence more males have been affected that females," he revealed.
Further, Amoth stated that the mortality rate in Kenya was about 2-3% which reflected favourably with fatality rates in the rest of the world.
He stated that the low fatality rate could be attributed to mild infections that had been reported and the swift response by the medical teams.
As of Tuesday, April 7, Kenya had reported six deaths since the first case was reported on March 13, with a total of seven recoveries.
This coming on a day Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that the number of Covid-19 cases had risen to 172.

"696 samples have been tested in the last 24 hours out of which 14 people have tested positive for the disease," he stated.
