Speaking outside the Administration Wing at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), the CS also announced that Kenya had now adopted the Covid-19 global mantra of testing, isolating, treating and tracing.

"Our success in treatment is highly dependent on our ability to protect our frontline workers in this fight. We have distributed 4,759 Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and 237 assorted components. We have trained over 30,000 health workers and the training is still ongoing," he announced.

Worryingly, the CS explained that they had carried out very few tests in the last 24 hours due to a shortage of nasal-pharyngeal & oral-pharyngeal swabs.

The Health CS also revealed that there had been 2 more recoveries, bringing the total tally of recovered individuals to 69.

He then turned his attention to individuals who had been apprehended while breaking the various measures, mostly involving the violation of the curfew guidelines.

"We have 455 people who have been quarantined for defying curfew directives from the government," he disclosed.

He then announced that the government was launching a designated isolation facility at KNH for health workers.

"This facility will offer both critical and basic care services for the workers and all costs incurred during treatment will be catered for by the government," he stated.
