A young man in Elgeyo Marakwet County was jilted by his wife who carried their four children with her as she left her marital home when he decided to live with a monkey.

The man named the monkey Josephine Baboon Kibet and usually takes care of it as the two found a rare bond.

The man, Isaac Kibet, treats the monkey as his daughter.

The monkey follows him everywhere he goes, hanging on his shoulders all times.

"If you call it by its name, she responds," Isaac stated,

The estranged man disclosed that he rescued the monkey which he found lying on his farm while young and was granted permission by the authorities to take care of it.

"If I had power, I would have taken it to school and even bought it uniform and a biker. The only problem is that the tail will be a distractor," he disclosed.

"Whatever food I eat, so does the monkey. I at times boil and also warm its meat. I do not give it raw meat," he added.

Area residents have been astounded by the duo's bond, arguing that it was a rare sight as they have been used to rearing domestic animals.

"We rear livestock and they troll Kibet for raising a monkey," one resident disclosed.

But the man, with his profound love for the monkey, argued that everyone had a choice to make in life and live by their own decisions as his desire is to be a wildlife officer.

He further disclosed that he at times employs someone to take care of the monkey whenever he visits areas that are prohibited to animals.

Research suggests that humans can form strong attachments to their pets, and at least some pets display attachment behaviors toward their human caretakers. In some cases, these bonds have been found to support or enhance the physical and emotional well-being of both species
