A no-nonsense driver was set free after confronting a group of traffic police officers who had arrested him for flouting Covid-19 rules.

In a video that surfaced online on Saturday, May 9, the officers had arrested the motorist for allegedly not wearing a mask while driving in public.

The motorist, however, did not take the arrest lightly and vowed to expose one of the officers for not wearing a mask while arresting him for the same offence.

He whipped out his phone and recorded their confrontation, accusing the officers of double standards.

"You are booking me for not wearing a mask yet one of your police officers does not have a mask. If he does not have a mask, why are you arresting me?

"The thing is this, good governance should start with you people. You should wear masks first before arresting other people for the same mistake," argued the unidentified motorist.

The police officer, who was dealing with the suspect, tried to defend himself claiming that it was not the unmasked officer who was making the arrest.

"I am the one who is arresting you. Go ahead and challenge me but I am the one who is arresting you," dared the officer.

In defence, the motorist explained that he was not in the public but was inside his personal car. He would only be expected to don the mask once he stepped out.

"You found me in my personal car, We were two people in the car and we did have our masks. When we step out of the car, we will wear our masks," continued the motorist.

In the video, the motorist discloses that the roadblock had six officers but only five of them were wearing masks. He went on to record the other officer put on his mask after the confrontation began.

In the exchange, the driver vowed to share the 5-minute clip on social media.

He also disclosed that during the arrest, one of the officers took away his driving license which was later returned and he was let go.
