The man, however, sustained serious injuries that left him bleeding profusely after being beaten by the irate mob.

One of the residents claimed that people in the area were quick to respond after the woman alerted them that she was being robbed.

"He was found when he had snatched a phone from the woman and reliable sources indicate that the woman was the man's lover.

"The woman shouted thief! the residents were anxious to know what happened and when they chased him, the started beating him severely," said the resident.

Another man from the area claimed that it was a case of domestic violence and wanted investigations to be quickly conducted.

"I heard that it's a relationship gone sour, that's the truth and when a relationship goes south, someone can call the other a thief, but we want the police to start investigations." said the man.

Residents in the area also complained of a rise in insecurity in the area which may have fueled the beating of the man.

Cases of domestic violence have also been on the rise in the country with more people spending more time at home due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

This came days after a woman on Saturday, May 9 stabbed her aeronautical engineer boyfriend to death after a domestic quarrel over dirty dishes in Umoja Estate, Nairobi.
