UPDATE: ODM leader Raila Odinga has condoled with Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi Over the loss of their brother.

In a message posted on his social media platforms on Friday, May 15, Raila expressed his sorrow at the demise of Tony Waswa and wished the family peace and comfort.

"My condolences go out to Senator Moses Wetangula and Hon. Tim Wanyonyi following the passing of their brother Tony Waswa. May the Lord grant their entire family comfort at this trying moment and may Tony Rest In Eternal Peace," Odinga wrote.

Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi lost their brother after suffering from a long illness.

According to a statement seen by Kenyans.co.ke on Friday, May 15, Tony Waswa Wetangula, who was an aide to MP Wanyonyi, succumbed after a long illness at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi.

The information of his death was first made public by Wetangula's political party Ford Kenya through its social media platforms, where they informed the public that Waswa died on Thursday, May 14 night.

"Our party leader's brother Tony Waswa Wetang’ula passed on last night at Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi. Tony was an aide to Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi. May his soul rest in peace,” Ford Kenya announced.

ODM Communications Director Philip Etale also weighed in and offered his condolences to the family, indicating that he had indeed been shocked by the news.

"Some news can be devastating. Now, just like that, my friend Tony Waswa Wetangula is no more. Yaani, this is very very sad news," he wrote.

Etale's shock at the news was echoed by Kachu wa Sisungo, a senior research officer working at the Senate and a friend to the Wetangula family.

"I have learned of this untimely death of my good friend and colleague Tony with utter shock and disbelief!!! This is a big blow to the family and friends.

"I pray that God sees the family through this trying moment... May his soul rest in eternal peace...," Sisungo eulogized.

Tony's death comes just days after Wetangula visited Kabuchai MP Lusweti Muko at the Karen Hospital where he is recuperating after being airlifted to Nairobi from Bungoma.

"Ford Kenya leader Senator Moses Wetang'ula this evening visited Kabuchai member of parliament Hon Lusweti Mukwe at Karen Hospital. The Kabuchai MP is positively responding to medication.

"Earlier on, Wetangula held a consultative engagement with his Wiper counterpart Kalonzo Musyoka," Ford Kenya announced on May 11, 2020.
