Anthony Waswa, the brother to Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi, was on Wednesday, May 20, laid to rest in a ceremony attended by only 60 people.

In the eulogy, Wanyonyi detailed last moments of the 48-year-old who died at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi, where he had been admitted for a week.

The Westlands MP highlighted that he and his brother distributed food and sanitisers to vulnerable families on May 9, 2020, before they departed and agreed to meet up the following day.

The two brothers, however, did not meet up during the day as agreed because Waswa was not feeling well.

"I reached him on phone and he told me he was not feeling well. We agreed to meet later in the evening.

"On May 11, I talked to him in the morning and he said he had been admitted at Ngara Medical Centre. When his condition worsened, I took him to Aga khan for specialised treatment," he detailed.

A week later, on Friday, May 15, Wanyonyi's sister informed him that Waswa had passed on.

"When my brother got into an accident, the late Waswa left the hotel business he was running and told me he would go take care of him. He has been his PA, security and everything," Senator Wetangula eulogised.

The Bungoma Senator urged residents to take Covid-19 regulations issued by the government seriously.

"We are humbly requesting our people here in Bungoma, as this is a border county, to ensure they put on masks, sanitise their hands and adhere to social distancing directive because this pandemic can only be contained by prevention, " he stated.

The Ford-Kenya party leader also thanked president Uhuru Kenyatta for providing the chopper that ferried Waswa’s body from Nairobi to his resting place in Mukhweya village in Kabuchai constituency.

Some of the leaders that attended the burial included; Woman Reps Catherine Wambilianga (Bungoma), Janet Nangabo (Trans Nzoia), MPs John Waluke (Sirisia) and Ferdinand Wanyonyi (Kwanza).
