The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has threatened defiant Jubilee Party members with a 2022 election ban.

Speaking on Wednesday, May 20,  NCIC Commissioner, Wambui Nyutu, advised the politicians to reconsider their utterances asserting that the commission would not spare anyone.

"We just want to tell them to watch out because when the commission comes for you, you will have nowhere to run, the long arm of the law is coming. This is because of Chapter 6 [of the Constitution], for you to run, you have to ensure you meet the requirements of integrity and if you have integrity you don't incite people to violence, you don't cause conflict.

"The commission this time round will bar people who are causing violence or conflict or inciting people from vying and that is what the politicians need to know," warned Nyutu.

The former Director of the National Irrigation Board (NIB) appeared to hit out Deputy President William Ruto allies who have opposed leadership changes in the party.

"The president is at liberty because that is his own party. He does as he wishes in the party to bring the order he deems fit for the party.

"There are people who want to take advantage of this. They are out there inciting people and insulting each other because of different issues So, we want to tell them, we are coming for you," noted Nyutu.

The former Student Organisation of Nairobi University (SONU) leader also insisted that the commission was not on leave and was working to bring inciters to book.

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday, May 11, held a Jubilee Party Parliamentary Group meeting in State House that effected Senate leadership.

Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen and Majority Whip Susan Kihika were ousted and replaced by West Pokot Senator Samuel Poghisio and his Murang’a counterpart Irungu Kang’ata respectively.

The Jubilee purge is next targeting Senate Deputy Speaker Kithure Kindiki with a motion to oust him set to be tabled in the Senate on May 22.
