Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria was on Saturday, May 30 forced to leave the burial of Catherine Nyambura, the wife of Konyu MCA Eric Mwangi.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the MP stated that police officers stormed the event at Ndimaini, Mathira, Nyeri County.
“Imagine the husband of the deceased had not delivered his eulogy before they stormed the event,” he stated.
After leaving the burial ceremony, the MP visited Karatina Market where he was received by a multitude of traders who shouted in praise.
He traversed the market greeting the traders and engaging them about the machinations in Jubilee Party.
Many of them expressed their love for Deputy President William Ruto and displeasure in the way he had been sidelined.
“Tell him to persevere, even when they embarrass him tell him to stay silent, we have his back,” one of the men stated.
Questions were raised about how the MP’s visit has caused a gathering at the market, to which he responded “I kept the same physical distance that Atwoli kept during his meeting at Kajiado.
The week has had many political meetings which have failed the physical distance test, without any consequences to the conveners or the attendees.
During the Ministry of Health’s Covid-19 press conference on Saturday, May, 30, Chemutai Goin of Citizen TV raised concern that it appeared politician were above the law.
“It’s disheartening to observe how some leaders practice the containment measures,” Health CAS Rashid Aman stated.
He added that action should be taken by the relevant ministry tasked with the enforcement of Covid-19 safety regulations which is the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government.
