Barely hours after being ousted as FORD Kenya party leader in a special NEC meeting at Radisson Blu, Nairobi, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has effected changes in the party kicking out the 'coup plotters'.

Wetangula was speaking to the media on the afternoon of Sunday, May 31, where he announced three changes in the party after his attempted ouster.

"Coups are archaic to good order and activities of cowards. Anybody who wants to run for a seat in Ford Kenya, file your papers and let us meet at Bomas. I have no doubt delegates will still give me a chance to run this party," he asserted.

Ford Kenya Secretary General, Tongaren Member of Parliament David Simiyu was suspended and replaced by Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa in an acting capacity.

"I salute Richard Onyonka who was put under immense pressure to accept to be part of this scheme but he refused, he remains the hero of this party. Following this, David Simiyu has been suspended as SG and Chris Wamalwa appointed in his position."

Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi, the party's Secretary for Livestock and Agriculture, was replaced by West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi Mogaka.

Kakamega MCA Roselida Andambi replaced Nominated Busia MCA Cynthia Mutere as the party's chair of the women league.

Wetangula revealed that non-party members were jetted into the capital to help effect the changes despite a cessation of movement order by the government.

"You have heard this morning that a group calling themselves NEC members of this party assembled in some five-star hotel after airlifting some impostors. We know the country is closed down, air travel is suspended.

"They were airlifting people yesterday from Kisumu and Mombasa, people who are not officials of the party or NEC members of the party," noted Wetangula.

The former Minister for Foreign Affairs added that the persons were detained forcefully overnight and were taken in an unlawful meeting, effecting changes without authority.

In the ouster, Wetangula was accused of failing to inspire leadership, failing to unite the party and undertaking actions contrary to the party's aspirations by interfering in past election nominations.
