The post-election political alliance between Jubilee Party and Kanu has continued to manifest following changes made by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday, June 2.

During the Jubilee MPs parliamentary group meeting held at State House, Igembe North MP Maoka Maore was named the new Majority Deputy Chief Whip to replace nominated MP Cecil Mbarire

Maore has a close relationship with Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, having served him as Kanu Deputy Secretary-General from 2002 to 2005.

More recently, in March 2020, Gideon Moi, for the first time, joined Maore and a team opposed to Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential bid popularly known as Kieleweke, on a visit to Meru County.

Moare took shots at DP Ruto, questioning the source of his immense wealth.

“If you are not an entrepreneur or into innovation, you cannot have billions,” said the Igembe North MP.

He entered elective politics in 1992 and from then until 2007, he was MP for Ntonyiri Constituency.

The long-serving politician has been able to survive political waves, with his experience securing him the Assistant Minister for Ministry of Education, Science and Technology position in 2002.

The Kanu loyalist decamped from the independence party to join former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in ODM in 2012.

He explained his move to ODM as his conviction that the country will grow its economy under the leadership of Prime Minister Raila Odinga and match other countries that have left Kenya lagging behind.

Maore said: “Mine has been a journey that I believe this country should take, for instance, the comparison between us Singapore and Malaysia when we were at par 50 years ago but we took different directions.

“Under Odinga’s leadership, this country will take the route of the Asian tigers that were fortunate to get leaders who were fortunate to have leaders who did not focus on ethnicity and petty issues.”

After losing in the 2013 General Election, he then joined Jubilee and made a comeback to the National Assembly in 2017 with the Jubilee Party ticket.
