Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria on Wednesday, June 3, received a notice of discharge from the parliamentary committee.

In a letter signed by the National Assembly Majority whip, Kuria was issued seven days to respond before being discharged from the Transport, Public Works and Housing Committee.

"Pursuant to standing orders 176 (1) and 176 (2), you are hereby notified that the Jubilee Party which nominated you intends to discharge you from the Transport, Puublic Works and Housing Committee.

"You are hereby given seven days to respond before you are discharged from the said committee," reads the letter.

Other MPs who received the letters include; Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa,  Bomet MP Joyce Korir, Endebess MP Robert Pukose Satia and Aldai MP Cornelly Serem.

Ichungwa is set to be removed from the Budgets and Appropriations committee, Korir from the  Labour and Social Welfare Committee, Pukose from the Energy Committee and Cornelly from the Trade, Industry and Co-operative Committee.

This is part of the ongoing clean-up in the Jubilee Party, with President Uhuru Kenyatta targetting his deputy William Ruto's allies, who are occupying key posts in the National Assembly.

During the Parliamentary Group meeting held at State House on Tuesday, June 2, the president allegedly cautioned the DP's allies whom he stated had opted to politick and engage in 2022 succession battles against him.

"If you don't respect me, why don't you at the very least just respect the office I occupy. You have branded me all sorts of names, but at least give honor to my office.

"I still have two years, just respect me for the remaining period. Jubilee agenda is not going to be completed in 10 years, and as I said, I will keep my word and ensure we have another 10 years to complete the railways, Lamu port and other key infrastructure projects that I will not have completed in the remaining two years," Uhuru urged.

In the meeting, Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali was replaced by Navakholo MP Emmanuel Wangwe as Majority Whip and Igembe North MP Maoka Maore took over the Deputy Minority Whip's role from Nominated MP Cecil Mbarire.
