Police were forced to clear the coffins that had been dumped outside Parliament building with reports indicating that two of the protestors were arrested.

The protestors also presented Mathare Member of Parliament Anthony Oluoch with a petition to end police brutality and ensure justice is served for victims of police brutality.

"It is against this background that I seek a statement from the chairperson on the departmental committee on administration and national security to address the following," read Olouch in Parliament.

Olouch wanted an explanation on the circumstances that led to the death of a resident of Mathare namely James Mithii alias Vaite, who was shot and killed by police in area 3C, Mabatini Ward on Monday 1st June 2020.

He also demanded to know the steps that have been taken to ensure speedy arrests and prosecution of the police officer who was responsible for the loss of life of the mentioned deceased person.

The petition is also seeking an explanation on the whereabouts of a resident of Mathare constituency by the name Michael Njau alias Gorba. He disappeared while on his way from Thika town while in the company of three other persons.

Petitioners are seeking to know the circumstances that led to the death of an innocent 13-year-old namely Yassin Moyo from Kiamaiko Ward on the 25th of March 2020, and the steps that have been taken to ensure speedy arrests and prosecution of those responsible.

Oluoch also wanted the explanation on the ongoing extrajudicial killings in the country especially during the enforcement of curfew and other measures to curb the spread of Covid-19.
