Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna has issued a demand letter to Lugari Member of Parliament Ayub Savula for alleged defamation.

In a document seen by Kenyans.co.ke, dated Wednesday, June 10, Sifuna issued the letter through Henia Anzala & Associates.

Sifuna made two demands to Savula in which failure to reply within seven would force legal proceedings against the Lugari MP.

"We demand an immediate apology, published in the same manner and media as the offending words. An admission as to liability after which we shall address the issue of quantum payable to our client," read the letter in part.

Sifuna alleged that in a press statement made on Monday June 8, Savula falsely and maliciously made erroneous allegations.

"I have received an invitation by our affiliate party in NASA through one of the top officials, that I engage in some activities against my Party Leader, Musalia Mudavadi.

"The gist of the matter is they have arranged some delegates so that I can overthrow my Party Leader Mudavadi.

You went further on 9th June 2020 to state the following," noted Savula.

Another bone of contention was the comments made by Savula on Tuesday, June 9 where he named Sifuna in the planned ouster of Musalia Mudavadi out of Amani National Congress Party.

"I was approached by Sifuna himself three weeks ago in a meeting and Sifuna told me, work with us we are planning on how we can make sure that the Luhya community follows one course, then later we can change course towards the Luhya Community," stated Savula.

The demand letter stated that the words were aired and published through media platforms with a nationwide reach and he uttered and published the allegations having full knowledge that the words were not true.

Sifuna claimed that the words were understood to mean that he is corrupt, tribal and a person who subverts the democratic political processes of other parties.

The words also painted Sifuna as guilty of dishonest and dishonourable conduct, unfit to hold the position of Vice-Chair and Center for Multi-Party Democracy (CMD).
