He noted with concern that more men were getting infected as compared to women.

“We need to understand why so many men are getting this virus. If we were able to drop the number of men to the level of the number of women you can see we would drop the numbers substantially,” Kagwe stated.

"I think it is to do with behaviour. Women essentially are exhibiting a more careful and consistent approach to this disease than men. We as men must adopt the same attitude," he added.

An additional 40 patients were discharged bringing the total recoveries to 1,326.

Unfortunately, 1 more patient succumbed to the disease with total fatalities standing at 105.

The 133 positive cases are distributed as follows in Counties; Nairobi (86), Mombasa (27), Kiambu (7) Busia (5), Muranga, Kilifi, Kajiado, and Migori, 2 cases each, Machakos and Muranga, 1 case each.

In Mombasa, the distribution of cases is as follows: Mvita (16), Kisauni (6) and Nyali (3).

On the other hand, the cases in Kiambu are from Kiambaa (3), Kabete, Juja, Kikuyu and Kiambu Town, one (1) case each while Kilifi has one each from Kaloleni and Kilifi North.

The two cases from Kajiado County are from;  Kajiado East and Kajiado West while the two from Migori are from Kuria West and Kuria East.

Machakos has one case from Athi River and Murang'a has a case from Kigumo.

The CS also announced that the operational hours for restaurants had been extended from the previous 5 pm to 7 pm.

Kagwe stated that the decision was arrived after a discussion between the business owners and the National Emergency Response Committee (NERC) on COVID-19.

“I recently informed you that there were ongoing consultations between restaurant owners and NERC on restaurant hours of business, appreciating that they have indeed been following the rules and observing the protocols.

“Arising out of those discussions and reflecting on restaurant behavior, NERC has directed that the hours of business for restaurants will be extended to 7:30pm," he announced.
